Recommended Brake Controller And Installation Kit For 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500

Question:

Purchased a 2017 MB Sprinter 3500. Has the Trailer Hitch Package, so it has the 7-pin connector @ the Hitch. Any wiring advice? What do we need for controller and install? Tow once in awhile, so maybe a middle of the road controller in terms of features and not too difficult to program. Thanks for any help.

For your 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500, I recommend the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160. This is a proportional controller that will give your trailer brakes the same intensity of braking pressure at the same time as you hit the brake pedal in your Sprinter. For this installation you will need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751475 as well as the Universal Installation Wiring for Trailer Brake Controller # 5506, which is the # ETBC7 kit we reference in the video without the 7-way because you already have that. This installation will use many of the components in the brake controller installation kit and will require some specific wiring on this vehicle. I've attached a video to walk you through this installation.
