Good afternoon Jameson, Thank you very much for the quick detailed response. I do have one more question for you. In your response you stated I should get part# 3035-P. I have a Curt Discovery brake controller is this a good controller? already installed, will this Tekonsha adapter work with it?

If your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.
If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # 3035-P, the # 37185, and a brake controller.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to set up.
Follow the 4-way trailer connector wires from the trailer connector to the front of the vehicle. These wires connect to a factory plug along the frame rail, usually on the driver's side, between the back tires and the rear bumper. The factory plug should be mated to another connector which has wiring that continues back toward the bumper.
There are more wires coming from the front of the vehicle than there are coming out toward the 4-Way plug. Ford wires the front of the vehicle as if it will be manufactured with a 7-Way plug, so all the 7-Way wires are run to this connector on the frame rail. This allows a 7-Way wiring harness to simply plug in line with the wiring coming from the front of the vehicle.
