I have a solution for you, but both of my contacts at Curt and Tekonsha confirmed with me that the standard plug in wiring harness for 2016 Ford Taurus will not work on the Police sedan model.
The wiring at the rear taillights are different between the two Taurus models. The best option for you to install a trailer harness for your Taurus is to use the Heavy Duty ModuLite Circuit Protected Wiring Harness, # C59496. The kit will allow you to hardwire in the powered ModuLite converter. The converter will eliminate power draw on the vehicle's tail light circuits when in use with trailer lighting.
The kit includes all hardware needed to install and a small circuit tester to help find the correct vehicle wires that need to be spliced to install this harness.
