2017 RAV4 Hybrid Limited Trailer Hitch Capacity Compared to Vehicle Capacity

Question:

Toyota says the 2017 RAV4 Limited Hybrid cannot have a trailer hitch because it will block the kick sensor for the power lift gate. I have disabled that but they also say that the Limited does not have the usual transmission cooler so again it is not capable of towing a trailer 1750 pounds max on other Hybrid RAV4 models. Comments?

When it comes to the towing capacity for a vehicle the manufacturer is the final authority. You can check the owners manual or directly with a dealer and that's what has to be gone by otherwise the warranty of the vehicle would be voided.

We offer the etrailer hitch part # e98864 for your 2017 Toyota RAV4 which would have way more capacity than your vehicle but that's because the hitch is rated separately than the vehicle. This hitch has a trailer towing capacity of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 525 lbs.
