Question:
We connected our trailer to our truck and the trailer running lights arent working, but The turn signal and B brake lights are. When we turned on our truck lights, the towing fuse blew. We have a 7 pin connector. I have no idea where to start troubleshooting this issue. Help! Thank you!

You have a short circuit somewhere in your system, most likely with the running lights wire hitting ground and then the extra power from your truck lights was enough to blow the fuse. I recommend tracing the wire from your trailer lights to the connection. Look for any signs of damaged wire and replace as needed. Check your ground wire connection to make sure it is clean and free of corrosion. You want your ground to be a bare metal to metal connection. Clean out any debris or corrosion in the connection between your trailer and truck and then reconnect to test. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to find where running light break is by probing wire from connection back to trailer lights. Once you find the issue and replace the wire, double check with your truck lights turned on after you confirm running lights function correctly.
