Question:
Hello, I am looking to install a hitch and wiring on my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate. I am trying to determine what, if any, wiring is needed but the site is asking if I have the factory tow package. The 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe does not have a tow package option. I have every option available on my Limited Ultimate but I don’t know if Hyundai added the base wiring to all trim levels or removed it from all. What should I be looking for under the vehicle? I have reviewed the installation video but the area where the wiring should be is now covered by a plastic shroud rear bumper is different for 2017. Any help would be great. Thanks.

On your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, we carry both the Draw-Tite Class III Hitch, # 75776, and the Curt Class III Hitch, # C13153. Both hitches are designed to be custom-fit for your the 2017 Santa Fe. Both are welded hitches that are designed to install with no drilling to the frame required.
I recommend the Curt hitch over the Draw-Tite hitch for your Hyundai. The Curt hitch has a higher towing capacity and on average a shorter installation time.
If your vehicle has OEM connection towing plugs, then they will be located at the rear drive's side of your Santa Fe. Reference the attached installation video. At the 1:08 mark of the video, our technician shows how to access the area where these plugs will be located. If you have these plugs, then you will need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C56332.
However, if your Santa Fe does not have the tow package plugs, then the Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit, # C59236, is the wiring harness that I recommend. This harness will have to be hard wired into your vehicle's lighting wiring. However, the included ModuLite converter will allow you to run power directly from your car battery and bypass your Santa Fe's lighting circuit. This direct connection to the battery will put less stress on your vehicle's lighting circuit so not to cause any electrical issues. The kit includes a small tester to help find the correct lighting wires to tap into on your vehicle.
I have also attached an installation video of the Curt hitch being installed on a 2017 Santa Fe and an article on general trailer wiring information for you to review.
