Recommendation for a 4-Way Flat to 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector Adapter

Question:

is the wiring for my trailor lites the same for the lexus 300 as for the pathfinder . i have a flat 5 wire trailor and a 4 wire on my truck . thank you

The Lexus 300 and Nissan Pathfinder use different wiring harnesses, but if they both have 4-Way flat trailer connectors, they will be pinned the same (function the same). The 5-Way trailer side connector will have an extra function at the pin furthest from the covered ground pin. This function is typically used on surge couplers that have an electric lockout feature. The corresponding pin on the vehicle side would need to be connected to the reverse light circuit for this feature to function. The other 4 pins on a 5-Way match the functions on a 4-Way.

We carry an adapter to make the 4-Way flat vehicle side trailer connector compatible with the 5-Way flat end on the trailer. You can use Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter, # 20036. The extra wire would go to the reverse light circuit if used for an electric reverse lockout. I have included a video showing a typical installation for reference.
