Superchips Tuner Function In Economy Tune
Updated 04/26/2017 | Published 04/25/2017 >
Question:
I just bought a Superchip tuner for my 08 Sierra 1500. One of those tunes that Ive chosen and been driving on is call mileage Xs. Now what I had tune up my truck to use this tune, I shift all my gears by 40mph. first two is done by 25. I dont know I might be over exaggerating but I feel like my tranny is Shifting too fast when I put this tune into my truck. It says that this tune helps your gas mileage. By basically taking your normal RPMs and basically keeping them under 2 is what it seems like it is doing. But when I go through all four gears if feels sluggish and takes forever to build up speed when youre only having one,one and a half RPMs. Any hints or answers what does might be or if its just doing what supposed to.

On your Superchip Tuner like Superchips Flashpaq F5 Performance Tuner - GM - Gas/Diesel # SU2845 for your 2008 Sierra 1500, it does sound like you are shifting too soon. It will help your gas mileage to keep your RPM's down, but I would use a different tune to give you the power you need. For the best gas mileage, the economy setting is good but for power it is not a good fit. I personally don't think it is very safe to shift all your gears by 40 mph as that would make merging onto a highway really rough.
I recommend returning to factory stock setting and then determining what setting is best for your driving style once you know your vehicle is functioning correctly as it could be an issue outside of your tuner causing the drastic nature of this drop in power. That doesn't sound normal even for the economy tune setting.
