Can Rear Hatch be Opened with Thule OutWay Pro Trunk Mount Bike Rack Installed

If I purchased the OutWay, would I be able to open the back of my 1999 4runner with the rack on if bikes off?

I wouldn't recommend leaving a trunk mount bike rack like the Thule OutWay # TH45JV for 2 bikes or the # TH56BV for 3 bikes on your 1999 Toyota 4Runner and opening the rear hatch.
There is a pretty good chance the bike rack will come loose and fall. Plus, your rear hatch is not designed to be opened with extra weight on it.
