Replacement Repair Parts for 5th Wheel Landing Gear & Replacement Landing Gear Sets

Published 04/20/2017

Question:

Hi. Will this fit my 1994 Jayco 255BH 5th wheel? I disassembled the lead jack and found the 2 gears almost stripped smooth. The 2 side bushings are good tho that the crank shaft goes thru. But there is a lot of play where the the vertical shaft goes down thru the body of the jack to the lead screw. There were parts of what looked like a nylon bushing laying in with the heavy gear grease. I think there was a bushing there and ended up getting chewed up.

Since trailer makers don't maintain spec on the jacks they install (especially for a 5th wheel that is close to 17 years old) you'll want to check the jack for any part numbers to help you choose the correct repair kit.

We do have bevel gear repair kits for jacks and landing gear from most major makers including Atwood, Stromberg Carlson, Fulton and others. In some cases repair kits for one brand will work fine for another since many of these products do share a common manufacturing origin, some being OEM-ed under another brand name.

Due to age it is possible that the kit for your landing gear may no longer be available. Knowing the jack part number will help determine this.

If it turns out that you do need to replace the jack you can refer to the linked page to see our range of landing gear kits. You will naturally want a kit that can handle the trailer weight and also one that uses mounts of the same spacing and outer tubes of the same size. This will allow a drop-in installation.
