Titan BrakeRite EHB # T4813100 Not Working Properly with Factory Brake Controller, 2007 Ford F-350

Updated 02/10/2011 | Published 02/09/2011

Question:

Brakerite electric over hydraulic brake system on trailer does not operate correctly with in cab controller on my 2007 f-350 Diesel. I am told a Prodigy controller will help. Can you suggest which model to purchase, wiring instructions with all accessories. Thanks in advance.

There is actually a solution to this very problem that does not require the purchase of a new brake controller. If you have the Titan BrakeRite EHB, # T4813100 or # T4822500, there is an adapter made specifically to allow the in cab brake controller on your 2007 Ford F-350 to work with the BrakeRite system. You will need Adapter Module # DX35FR.

If you have the BrakeRite II SD system, # T4835700 or the or # T181310 you would use Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter, # T4845900, to allow the system to work properly. The use of either of these adapters does not interfere with the use of other brake controllers so if you wanted to, you could still add a brake controller.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 and wiring adapter # 3065-P, will work with electric over hydraulic braking systems. For installation, the Ford F-350 Super Duty specific adapter # 3065-P has one end that plugs into the back of the brake controller, while the other end plugs into the port behind the storage pocket, just above the ashtray and toward the center of the dashboard.

This will require disconnecting the factory controller which will give a fault code on the instrument cluster. The only way to remove this code is to have the TBC turned off by your local Ford dealer. Using the IDS, the Ford Technician should access the Programmable Parameters and then select the Personality/Dynamics. Select the TBC and turn it off. The fault code will now be removed. This process can also be used to turn the TBC back on, in the event that the aftermarket brake control is removed.
