Is a Gap Between the Yates Keel Roller YR12244-125EC and Brackets Okay

Updated 04/10/2017 | Published 04/07/2017

Question:

I measure my existing keel roller and it is 12 inches from the outside plastic s. I buy new 12 inch Yates Keel Rollers, part #12244-125EC and they are not 12 inches from the outside plastic s. They are about 11 1/2 inches. So, when installed there is a 1/2 inch gap where the Keel Roller will slide side to side. My question? Can there be a gap? Or should the Keel Roller fit snug between the brackets? What am I missing here?

The 12 inch measurement for the product description has to do with the size bracket that it will fit. If you only have 1/2 an inch of a gap between the Yates Keel Roller # YR12244-125EC and your bracket you will be fine. It is okay for there to be some space, but you don't want much more than 1/2 inch since there is more room for the roller to slide back and forth.
