To flat tow your 2015 Ford F-150 behind your motorhome, you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, lighting solution and a supplemental braking system.

Before flat towing your vehicle, I also recommend checking your owner's manual for any specific restrictions or guidelines that need to be followed.

Base plate kits are the only required component that is vehicle specific. For your Ford F-150, I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-524431-4. This kit features a hidden bracket design with brackets that sit further back for a nice, clean look, especially when the drawbars have been removed.

Then for a tow bar that is compatible with the EZ4 Base Plates, I recommend the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-422. This will allow you to use the quick-disconnects on the EZ4 Base Plates for fast and easy hookup and disconnect. This tow bar has a 10,000 pound capacity and has a non-binding design which will allow you to release your F-150 on unlevel ground. You can also look at the Roadmaster Non-Binding # RM-576 that has an 8,000 pound capacity.

A lower rated option like the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 will also work if your F-150 is less than 6,000 pounds. This tow bar does not feature the non-binding design like the # RM-422 and # RM-576, which may cause a little more difficulty if trying to release your F-150 on unlevel ground.

For the required safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster 80 inch Coiled Safety Cables # RM-653. These also have a 10,000 pound weight capacity.

For tail light lighting on your F-150, I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-15267, which will allow the motorhomes tail light, brakes, and turn signals to use your F-150's vehicle tail lights.

For a supplemental braking system, I really like the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR along with the required relay # RM-88400. This is a great proportional braking system that will physically press down on the towed vehicle's brake pedal at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your motorhome.

Another great proportional option is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251, which is known for its relative ease of installation. You will still need the # RM-88400 relay with this system. The relay is required to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn.

A high-low adapter will likely be needed to raise or lower the height of the tow bar so that it stays within 3 inches of level at either end. I have attached a helpful article that explains the measurements you can take to help you determine what you will need. I have included a link that will take you to our available selection of high-low adapters.

I have attached video demonstrations and installation details for the products mentioned as well as a helpful article that details everything that is needed to flat tow a vehicle.
