they recommend this kit for my 2017 dodge ram 1500 but when i look further its saying i need a different adapter plug? so iam confused here on this and help would be great

On your 2017 Ram 1500, the Curt Venture Brake Controller, # C74VV, will need to use # C51458 brake control harness to install on this truck.
The harness will pug in to the brake controller's harness and the other end will connect to your Ram's wiring.
The wiring harness # C51453 that you referenced was used up to the 2014 Ram 1500 and is not needed on the 2015-2017 model Rams.
