Question:
I have a 2016 Ford F350 Super Duty with towing package. I am considering purchase of a 2013, 40foot P. J . Flat Bed Trailer with EOH Disc Brakes with Hydra Star EOH Actuator. When the brakes are applied from the brake pedal of my truck will the trailer brakes also be applied?

Helpful Expert Reply:
To have the brakes in your 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty activate your trailer's electric-over-hydraulic (EOH) brakes your in-cab brake controller must have an operational setting specifically for EOH systems.
The better aftermarket brake controllers such as the Prodigy series from Tekonsha, the P2 # 90885 and the P3 # 90195, include the EOH option in their main menu screens. This type of actuator, such as the Hydra Star # HBA16, requires an EOH-compatible brake controller since the electrical load from an EOH system differs from that of a trailer with electric drum brakes.
So long as your factory brake controller offer an EOH setting option it should work fine. If not then I suggest replacing it with either of the Prodigy controllers. All you need is wiring adapter # 3034-P.
