How Does the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs, part # F4179 install on a 2006 Acura MDX

If you have access to tools and have basic mechanical skills you should have no problem installing the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs - Rear Kit, part # F4179, on the rear suspension of your 2006 Acura MDX.

The first step you will need to do is jack up the rear wheels of your 2006 Acura MDX by the frame and support it with jack stands. Make sure your suspension is completely extended. Next, you will remove your coil springs and remove the overload bumpers inside the coil springs to provide clearance for the air spring once it is installed. Now you will want to install the included support in place of the factory overload bumper to prevent damage to the air spring.

Next, you will want to cut a 3 inch section of the air line tubing and insert it into the push-to-connect air inlet on the air spring. This will allow you to roll the spring up and exhaust all of the air from it and then put the included plug in the line to keep it deflated, which will make the next step easier.

Now it is time to install the air spring into the coil spring. You will want the push-to-connect fitting towards the bottom of the coil spring. You will slide the air spring into the coil spring, most likely the easiest way to do this will be to insert the air spring through side of the coil spring, going in between two of the coils.

Once the air spring is centered in the coil spring you will remove the plug on the air line to allow the air spring to re-inflate. Next, you will cut the remaining length of air line tubing into equal lengths and insert one of the halves into the air spring.

Now you will want to run the line through the middle of the lower coil spring seat and then through the hole drilled in the lower control arm. Now it is time to reassemble your spring coil assembly onto your vehicle.

Repeat the above steps for the other side of your vehicle.

The final steps will be to drill 5/16 Inch hole in protected location on the bumper or body of your MDX and then use the included 5/16 Inch washers and nuts to attach the air inflation valve to your vehicle. Now you will want to run the tubing from the air springs to the air inflation valves making sure to avoid exhaust or areas that may pinch the tubing.

Now you should test for leaks, and if there are none you are good to go.
