The Yakima FatCat EVO 6 Locking Rooftop Ski and Snowboard Carrier - 6 Skis or 4 Boards - Mirror Black # Y03096, is compatible with your 2004 Toyota 4 Runner when using a roof rack. If you have factory crossbars, it will fit and you can simply install the unit. If not, you will need a roof rack system as well.
If you have factory raised rails that run front to back, I recommend the the Yakima Roof Rack consisting of the Round 58" CrossBars for Yakima Roof Rack System (QTY 2) # Y00409, and the TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Qty 4 # Y33TR.
If you do not have factory rails, I recommend the Inno Roof Rack consisting of Inno Square Crossbars - Steel - Black - 54" Long - Qty 2 # INB137, Inno Feet for Square Crossbars - Naked Roofs - Black - Qty 4 # INSUT, and Custom Fit Kit for Inno XS200, XS250, and INSUT Roof Rack Feet # INK784.
This will get you all set to carry your snowboards or skis on your 2004 Toyota 4 Runner.
