Question:
I need to mount a plate on a 20 ft open snowmobile trailer. I keep tearing the license off and even loosing it as snow and ice continually hits it on the highway. I am just wanting your input on using this on an under frame license mount trailer. Basically 2 holes are drilled in the square aluminum tubing of an Triton Elite 20 ft open for mounting the license plate. I could simply mount this to the frame along with the license plate, and it should spring backwards when hit by something significant, but then return to normal position. What do you think or can you recommend a better solution?

The only option I can think of is to custom mount your plate with a hinge. You could use a plate holder like # LP35BB or a metal plate like # CR79150 and mount it to the bottom of your trailer with a basic hinge like # PLR2008-AS. If you mount the hinge the correct way, it would allow swinging front to back without any friction and gravity would allow the plate to hang properly for travel.
