Trailer Breakaway Switch Wiring Functions

Question:
when wiring - complete wiring of pigtail- the brake wire appears to have a all the time hot lead from the trailer battery is this correct? orange/brown to trailer battery blue to brakes?

If the breakaway system has a charger then the 12 volt circuit from the trailer connector will go to it. Otherwise it goes to the breakaway battery. The breakaway switch will have one wire that goes to the brake magnets and the other to the breakaway battery. I have linked a help article on breakaway systems for you.
