Question:
When trying disconnect my2005 29/8 -montana from the truck. I hear a clicking noise . The jack will extend down until it starts to get tension then the clicking starts and will not lift the trailer. The jack will fully extend with no load. I have been told that the leg is bent. What is your opinion

Expert Reply:
What you are describing can be a result of a battery with insufficient charge, a problem with the motor itself, the gear box, or an internal problem such as a bent leg or damage screw or nut.
The easiest to test for is a weak battery. Have the battery tested and if it is good make sure it is charged and see if anything changes. If not then it is one of the other problems listed above. There are replacement motors and gear boxes but since we are not sure which it could be AND because there isn't a replacement screw and nut for all jack legs, simply replacing the leg would be what I would do.
The Keystone Montana 5th wheel trailers have special legs made just for them. If you want to try replacing the leg then the replacement for the lead leg is # LC178653. The replacement for the follower leg is # LC178652.
