Using Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # D210 to Tow a Pop Up Camper and Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack

Question:

I am looking into this 63124 rack but I am concerned about clearance for my pop-up. I read earlier about using the receiver extender part #D210 but is that hitch rated well enough for a 2500 lb pop-up with a tongue weight of 200lbs w 4 bikes?

I went out to the warehouse to take some measurements on the Reese Eclipse Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack, # 63124. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the very end of the rack is 33 inches. To compare, you can measure from the center of the coupler back to the camper. If it is longer than 33 inches, there will be enough clearance.

I also measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the top of the bike rack at the last bike position and it is 38 inches tall. The lightest bike would go in the last position so if you measure from the bottom of the top frame bar on the bike down to the ground and then subtract that from 38, that will give you the amount of space that will be between the bikes tires and the center of the hitch pin hole. I have also included two videos of this bike rack below.

Using the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount, # D210 will give you 6 inches more rise above the center of the hitch pin hole if vertical space is an issue. This ball mount will be able to hold the tongue weight of your camper, the bike rack, and the bikes. The entire unit has a tongue weight capacity of 750 pounds and a gross trailer weight capacity of 7,500 pounds, but the receiver portion is limited to 350 pounds of tongue weight (or downward force applied to the receiver portion).
