Question:
If I buy your trailer wire harness for my 2016 Jeep Compass does that mean that if I use a trailer that has electric brakes will they work with this harness or should I look into another kit

Expert Reply:
If your trailer has brakes installed there are a couple things you will need on your 2016 Compass to operate the brakes.
You will need a brake controller like part # 90195. This requires a 7-way connector at the rear of your Jeep.
If you have a 4-way trailer connector at the back of your Compass you will need part # ETBC7. This plugs into the 4-way and you will then need to complete the wiring installation as explained in the attached helpful article and shown in the attached drawing.
If you do not have a 4-way connector on your Compass I recommend part # 118539.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
