Is the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack for a 2015 Toyota Tundra with C-Channel Rails Secure

Question:

I have a 2015 Toyota Tundra with the C channel bed. I am concerned that the square plate that attaches behind and under the channel doesnt have much contact area. Is it metal or plastic ? It looks like a pretty small part to hold the unit securely in place. P.S. I bought my Tekonsha Brake Controller from you folks..works great !

The square "nut" that fits into the channels on your 2015 Toyota Tundra to secure the Inno Velo Gripper # INRT202 is metal. Specifically it is black powder coated steel. It is just large enough to fit in the channel but has more than enough contact area to support not only the carrier but the bike attached to it as well.

It is no different than roof racks that use a T-slot to secure things to roof rack crossbars and those have to handle much more stress than the Velo Gripper. So if you are looking for an in-bed bike rack that fits the factory channels in the truck bed and doesn't require removing the bike front wheel the Velo Gripper is the best option.
