Question:
Hello, I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport and Id like to tow it behind my motor home. I have a stowmaster that has the attachments for a Jeep Wrangler. Can you tell me what I need to tow the Cherokee? I believe the attachments are different between the Cherokee and the Wrangler. Thanks.

The base plates for towing behind a motor home are different for the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Cherokee models.
For your 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport, we have two different base plate kits that will fit your vehicle. The base plates that will fit your vehicle are the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms, part # 1418-3 and the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms, part # 1418-1.
I would recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 1418-1, because of the removable arms. So when you are not towing your vehicle you can simply remove the base plate mounting arms with 2 pins.
I also researched and found that both the XL Base Plate Kit and Classic Base Plate Kit are compatible with the Roadmaster Stowmaster Tow Bars.
You may also need safety cables, wiring for lights or towing lights.
For safety cables, I would recommend the Roadmaster 68 Inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, part # RM-643.
For lighting, you can wire your 2001 Jeep Cherokee with the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154, which will activate the running lights, brake lights and turn signals of your Jeep when it is being towed by your motor home. The other option would be to use Magnetic Towing Light Kit, part # RM-2120, which attaches to your vehicle using magnets. If you are going to be towing your Jeep often, I would recommend part # RM-154 as it would just plug in your vehicle each time you towed.
You will want to check with your Jeep dealer for any special instructions for safely flat-towing your 2001 Jeep Cherokee to prevent damage to your vehicle. Some vehicles require the use of a transmission lube pump, axle or drive shaft disconnection, or free-wheeling hubs before being flat towed.
I have linked a video installation of Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154 and instructions for the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 1418-1, and Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit, part # 1418-3.
