Dimensions of Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2 Inch Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers # D210

Question:

I need an adapter so that I can use my Carpod cargo carrier on my Ford Flex. The problem when I used it was that the exhaust was at the same level as the Carpod so it melted a coller I was carrying. Does this adapter allow the Carpod to be mounted. The Carpod weighs about 48 lbs. and has a max. load weight of 450. My worry is whether it sticks out far back enough How far back and up does the adapter go?.

There is a detailed drawing of the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount, # D210, on the product page. It is the third picture. I have also included a link to it below. The bottom of the receiver portion is 4-3/4 inches from the top of the shank. The center of the hitch pin hole on the receiver to the center of the ball hole measures about 4-1/4 inches.
