The 4-pole connector attaches to the existing 4-pole on your vehicle, which leaves the four loose wires. The white wire with the ring terminal would ground to clean metal. The blue wire carries the output from the brake controller. Since your truck was not equipped with the 7-way connector, the brake controller output wire ends in the front wheel well of the truck, and would need to be extended back to the trailer connector (see photo). The black wire carries 12-volt power for any trailer mounted accessories that might need it. A length of 10 gauge wire would be ran to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp inline circuit breaker, part # 9510. The yellow wire is typically used to power up reverse lights on the trailer, if needed. If not needed, this wire can be bundled up out of the way.
