Locating the Brake Controller Wiring Port on a 2017 Ford E-450 Class C Motorhome

Updated 08/30/2016 | Published 08/29/2016

Question:

Did Ford change the wiring plug for the 2017 E-450 brake controller wiring? I need to wire I Brake controller in on my 2017 E-450 Class C motorhome that did not come equipped with the factory brake controller. I looked over your pics for a similar install for a 2016, but the dash is completely different. so not sure where to locate the plug I need to tap into. Any help would be thankful

Your 2017 Ford E-450 van chassis/RV will use brake controller wiring harness # 3034-P. Ford only makes this van chassis for the RV and emergency vehicle industries now but the 2017 chassis is the same as the 2014 model year which was the last year it was available to the general public.

I attached a few pictures that show which panel you will find the harness behind, if this doesn't match your interior I would still recommend starting in these locations.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 brake controller part # 90195. The P3 is a proportional brake controller which means it senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. It also has a full display screen instead of codes that need deciphering. The Tekonsha P2 # 90885 is like the P3's little brother, it has all the great qualities but doesn't have the display of the P3. The Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is the best selling controller on the market because of how easy it is to setup and use, and how well it works.
