Helpful Expert Reply:
The remote for the Bulldog Trailer Winch # BDW10039 is wireless and can be used up to 50 feet away. However, a wire is supplied for the remote for when the batteries die or if you are experiencing signal interference. To convert the remote to wireless, simply unplug the wire from the remote and the power unit and store it away.
The remote runs on 2 CR2032 batteries (included) when unplugged.
