Question:
How far should should the flat end of a 30 1/4 spring extend beyond the ring with no load on it the frame is upside down now

Expert Reply:
The flat end of a slipper spring should stick far enough through a hanger to allow for the full travel of the suspension without the spring coming out of the hanger. When you have no load on the spring and especially if the frame is currently upside down then the end of the spring will likely be very close to the hanger. Once it is right side up the spring will compress some and push more of the flat end through the hanger.
With spring # SP-039275 the hanger spacing should be 28 inches measured from the center of the front hanger to the center of the rear hanger so that is another way to make sure the spring is in the right place.
