Updated 06/27/2016 | Published 06/25/2016

Question:

I wish to build a small car carrier trailer for relatively light sports cars , around 2500-3000 pounds , I wish to achieve the lowest deck height possible , what would you recommend and are their small wheel that would lower the deck as well ? which timbren would help achieve the desired results ? Thanks for your assistance.

The Timbren Axle-Less suspension system is a good choice. They offer a 4 inch drop spindle model, part # A35RD545 includes idler hubs and # A35RD545E includes electric brake hub drums. These are good for a total 3500 lb capacity, which includes the weight of the vehicle and the trailer.

This would be a good option for a car carrying trailer with a low deck height. At rest, the center of the spindle would sit even with the bottom of the trailer frame, and at maximum deflection, the center of the spindle would sit about 1-3/4 inches higher than the bottom of the trailer frame.

The smallest wheel diameter that the idler and brake hub drum would accommodate is a 13 inch.
