Should Trailer Suspension Shackle Face Up and Down
Published 05/24/2016 >
Question:
Hi, I have 1997 Jayco travel trailer. After years of use I decided to have two new axles and brake assemblies made . I purchased new springs and hardware from e trailer . Everything fit perfectly. My question is I noticed that the spring link one on both sides is pointing down . Most of the time I have seen suspensions they are pointing up in a W pattern .Wiil this correct itself in using it or did I do something wrong? If it wont is there an easy way to move it up into a upward position without taking it apart. ? Thanks

Sounds like one of your shackles is facing the wrong direction after installing everything.
When a shackle flips around and faces the wrong direction on trailer suspension most of the time just putting weight on the trailer and driving will correct the problem. Or you can try jacking up one of the axles to get the equalizer to angle and allow the shackle to flip around.
