Question:

I’m looking to buy the Thule Hullavator for my 2016 Subaru Outback. What kind of roof rack system would be compatible with both the Hullavator and my Outback? If possible I’d prefer not to go with round bars. Thanks in advance for you help.

The roof rack I recommend for your 2016 Outback with the flush side rails is the Thule WingBar roof rack. The roof rack features the Thule WingBar crossbars that are some of the quietest on the market.

The side rails on your Outback will have fixed mounting points and the Thule roof rack will work great. To order this roof rack you will need part # TH711220 for black bars or # TH711200 for silver, # TH460R, and part # THKIT4063.

The Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier, part # TH898 will work great with the Thule roof rack on your Outback. This carrier features lift-assist folding arms that have gas struts to make it easier to load your kayak. This carrier also includes tie-downs to secure the kayak in place.

I also recommend installing locks like part # TH450600. This includes 6 lock cylinders you can use for both the roof rack and the Hullavator to deter theft. These are all keyed-alike so you can use one key to operate all of the locks.
