Recommended Trailer Hitch and Towing Accessories for 2007 Kia Sportage

Updated 05/03/2016 | Published 04/30/2016

Question:

To whom it may concern, I am looking at buying a hitch for my 2007 Kia Sportage 4cyl. From what Im being told us that the hitches can only mount on the 6cyl. What Im confused on is how does the type of engine affect the frame where I would be mounting the hitch. Is this true? Or am falling for trickery. Any and all recommendations of what would fit would be a huge help

The number of cylinders the engine has will have NO bearing on which hitch will fit. Any of the hitches we offer for the 2007 Kia Sportage will fit 4 and 6 cylinder models. Although which engine you have doesn't dictate the hitch used, it will dictate the trailer wiring harness.

For the best hitch at the best price point, I'd recommend going with the Curt Class III, part # 13526. If you plan on towing with the hitch, you'll need a few other items to complete your towing system. For trailer wiring for the 4 cylinder, you'd use the # 119178KIT trailer wiring harness. For a 6 cylinder, you'd use # 118401. For a ball mount, use part # D-4, Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3, and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
