Fit of Magnaflow Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System on a 2001 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab Short Bed

Question:

does the spare tire need to be removed and does the pipe rub on the shock? Is this something I can do without putting it on a hoist? Part #MF15754

The Magnaflow # MF15754 is a confirmed fit for your 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab with Short Bed and a 5.3L V8 Engine. This Cat-Back will fit great and you will not have to lower the spare as long as your spare is the OEM spare. If it is the OEM spare then it will mount properly while it is installed, anything aftermarket may require modification for a proper fit.

In the instructions it states that if you are working without a lift, always consult your vehicle's manual for correct lifting specifications. I can see where the images on this page might appear that the pipe will rub the shock but it will not, the hanger brackets access hole is close to the shock but will not come into contact with it when mounted properly. I checked and the instructions also make no mention of the system rubbing the shock on the vehicle or even coming close to it.

I have linked an installation video of this system on a 2000 Chevy Silverado as well as the instructions for your convenience.
