Question:

Can I use this with a wire cable spooled on the drum instead of rope or web? If not what winch would you recommend? Do you have 1 7/8 wide strap x 20 Do you also sell cable wire for this application: 1500# boat w/motor - want to load onto trailer and pull into position. Thanks

I do have a solution for you, but the FT18010301 hand winch you were looking at is not compatible with a wire rope.

A very similar winch that I recommend and will be compatible with a wire rope is the Dutton-Lainson # DL14627. This winch also is a single speed and is rated for 1,800lbs and 9-1/2 inch long handle. It's also designed for marine applications with its TuffPlate finish.

The wire cable for this winch is the # DL24045. The strap we recommend for this winch is the # DL24249. We don't have a 1-7/8 inch wide 20 inch long strap at this time.
