Trailer Brake and Turn Signals Stopped Working with Curt Trailer Wiring on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question:

I have a C56333 installed on a 08 Grand Caravan and up until now, the connection has been working correctly 1-2 years. When I hooked up my camper today , the running lights work but neither the brake lights or turn signals are working on the trailer they are working properly on the van. I think I can eliminate the camper as the problem as Im getting the same result with a light tester. Power is being received on all wires, but only the running light signal is working.

If you are getting power when the brake or turn signals are on into the Curt wiring harness converter box for # C56333 from the vehicle BUT there is no power on the brake/turn signal pins on the output side with the 4-Way connector that indicates a problem with the converter and the whole harness will have to be replaced.

There was likely a short at some point, probably when you were using the harness, caused by moisture or corrosion, even a pinched wire, and the box did what it was supposed to do and protected your 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan by shorting itself out.

The Tow Ready harness for your van, # 118552, has proven to be a reliable harness so I recommend it. The good news is that you will not have to route an all new power wire for the new harness provided the one that is on the vehicle now is in good working order.
