I got a brush guard from a 2005 f150, will it fit on my 2008 f150? If not can it be modified?

If you have a Westin brush guard/bull bar such as # 32-1395 then yes, it will fit a 2008 Ford F-150. If you do have a Westin model and need the mounting brackets and hardware to mount it on your 2008 F-150 then you will need replacement kit # 32-139PK.
