Question:
Hello, Im looking to add a wiring harness to my 2004 Jeep Liberty without factory 7 way. You offer two solutions, one of them includes a hot wire that connects to the battery. Im not sure which one I need. Can you tell me why I would need a hot wire? Thanks!

Like you said there are two different trailer wiring options for your 2004 Jeep Liberty that does not have a 7-way.
The Tow Ready kit part # 118524 requires a wire to run up to the positive post of the battery and the Curt # C55382 does not.
The benefit to running the wire up to the battery is that it protects the tail light circuits of your vehicle. Instead of drawing the amperage required to power the trailer lights from vehicle taillights the amperage comes straight from the battery and uses the vehicle tail lights only as signal wires.
The advantage to the Curt that does not run up to the battery is that it is an easier install. Aside from that there is no advantage. If you have LED taillights on your trailer this would be a perfectly fine options since LEDs don't hardly draw anything. Otherwise I would go with the powered kit part # 1181524 as my recommendation.
