We offer light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitches for the various versions of the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt.
The correct hitch for your particular car will depend on which version you drive.

You can use the linked page to select your vehicle style. Use the drop-down menu tool at the top of the page to choose your particular Cobalt. For example, for the standard coupe (not the Sport or SS) or for the sedan (not the Sport) use Curt # C11430. For the Sport or SS coupe use # 24756 if you need an included ball mount. All hitches for your car will require a bit of drilling and all include the required hardware. The only special tool needed is a torque wrench like # ALL944001. A helpful article is included.

If you plan to tow, you'll want to check your owner's manual for any guidance or restrictions from Chevrolet about towing with the car. You'll need a wiring harness if your trailer has lights; you can use Tow Ready # 118398 which installs easily just by plugging in the harness connectors at your taillights. Apart from that you'll need only attach the white ground wire to the car's frame. No cutting or splicing of wires!

Towing also requires a ball mount and hitch ball. The linked article will help you select the correct ball mount to keep your hitched trailer level, which is important for good handling. You'll choose a hitch ball to match the coupler size on the trailer, such as 1-7/8-inch # 19256 or 2-inch ball # 19258.

If instead you plan to use a hitch-mount bike rack, please note that only 2 bikes can be carried on a Class I hitch. I have linked for you our main page for all 2-bike Class I bike racks.
