Can the Lippert Trailer Shock Kits fit a Trailer with an I-Beam Frame
Published 01/26/2016 >
Question:
My trailer has an I beam frame, the Vertical section that the top shock mounts bolts to is wavy, like a wave, high and low spots as opposed to a flat piece of steel. The horizontal top and bottom piece of the I frame sticks out one and three quarters of an inch from the vertical section that the top shock mount bolts too. My question does the top shock mount stick out far enough for the shock its self to clear the frame piece/channel that sticks out 1 3/4inch ? It has Dexter P-29 model SLR 052 5,200 lb axles. 3. With the springs on the bottom of the axles. I forgot to take pictures.

Sounds like your I-beam frame has a lower lip that sticks out 1-3/4 inches. That potentially would be an issue for the frame bracket of the shock kit part # LC281281, BUT since this bracket only holds the top portion of the shock you could easily put a spacer block between the frame and the shock mount to get it out far enough so that it wouldn't interfere.
Our contact at Lippert has stated that this is a general-purpose kit and it is up to the user/installer to determine the best option for any given application. That means there is a bit of flexibility in how it can install.
