Recommended Quality Weight Distribution System That Is Easy To Use

Updated 01/18/2016 | Published 01/16/2016

Question:

The dealer told me that the Reese hitch is an entry level hitch and their Pro Series is much better but the Blue Ox sway pro is the best. The internet also recommends the Equal-I-Zer. Which is the best, I need a hitch in the next few days and dont want junk? The Blue Ox seems the most simple and Reese strait line the most complicated.

All of the brands you referenced make good weight distribution systems. Also as you noted, some systems are a bit more complicated to set up than other systems.

The weight distribution system I most commonly recommend is the Reese SC Weight Distribution System. The Reese Steadi-Flex features trunnion-style spring bar arms that offer greater ground clearance than round bar arms. This system combats trailer sway with integrated friction pads that work with the trunnion arms to stop trailer sway as soon as it begins.

The spring bar hangers in the Reese Steadi-Flex system have a no-drill installation, as they clamp around the trailer's frame. These hangers feature automotive-quality friction material pads that help stop sway.

Choosing the correct weight distribution for your trailer has a large part to do with the trailer's tongue weight. It is important to choose a system that is rated for your trailer's tongue weight, rather than a system that is rated too high or too low. For example, if your trailer has a gross trailer weight of 10,000 pounds with a tongue weight of 1,100 pounds, the Reese Steadi-Flex WD System with Sway Control # RP66560 would be a good fit. This system is rated for gross trailer weights of up to 12,000 pounds and tongue weights between 600 - 1,200 pounds.

If you would like to let me know your trailer's tongue weight and gross trailer weight I will be happy to make a more specific recommendation for you.

I have attached a review of a Reese Steadi-Flex system for you, as well as a help article on weight distribution systems.
