Why Does the Base Plate Kit 1411-2 Come with Tabs to Attach to Core Support

Updated 01/06/2016 | Published 01/05/2016

Question:

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee I am expecting delivery of the 1411-2 tomorrow. I have a couple of questions for you The instructions which are clear with this exception :: Now, bolt a ¼” x 2” extension tab to the back of the radiator cross member using the existing bolt in the cross member. Bolt the loose end of the core support bracket to the tab using a 7/16” x 1½” bolt, washers and nut provided. This is not too clear do you have any photo’s of this part of the installation ?? Also, what your advice for removing the bolts if I find they have Loctite applied ? Finally, should I use Loctite when I fit the base plate with the new bolts? Thanks,

When you install the Roadmaster Base Plate kit part # 1411-2 on you 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee you will end up removing a portion of the radiator core support hardware so in the step that you mentioned you will use the included tabs to re-brace the core support.

I wish we had pictures, but it will all make sense when you are under the vehicle and are installing the kit.

For Loc-Tite on bolts I would recommend using a spray lube like WD-40 or Liquid Wrench and a cheater bar for additional leverage.
