Question:

How do I know what hubs/bearings go with my trailer. Two axle skeeter bay boat trailer from 2004-2005. Can I upgrade to the oil bath bearings? Do I need to replace entire hubs?

The best way to find the correct bearings and hubs for your Skeeter boat trailer is to remove the hub from one of the wheels and check out the numbers on the bearings you have. I have attached a photo that shows where you can usually find the numbers on the hub components. If you are unable to find the numbers you can use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157, and measure the spindle in the locations noted on the attached photo.

Some hubs can be converted to an oil bath but they must have a threaded hub for the oil cap to thread onto. The kit we offer is part # XLPROLUBE1980KIT. It is designed for 3500-lb axles. It will work with hubs that measure 1.98 inches where the grease cap fits. The seal that is included will fit 1.72 inch spindles only.
