Question:

What do I need to install the P3 in My 95 F150? It has a plug-n in the cab but only a 4 wire connector in the rear.

To install the Prodigy P3 brake controller, # 90195 in your 1995 Ford F-150, you will just need the # 3035-P wiring harness and an Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole, # 37185. The brake controller will plug into a factory plug under the dash, near the center console. I have included a link to the installation details for the brake controller.

To install the # 37185 harness, the existing 4-Way will plug into the back of the # 37185. Next, follow the wiring for the 4-Way back towards the front of the vehicle until you reach a connection point on the driver's side between the back tires and the end of the truck bed. There are more wires coming into this connection point than coming out towards the rear of the truck. There is where you will hard wire the remaining wires in the # 37185 harness.

The white wire will get grounded to the vehicle frame. Use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to find the functions of the wires forward of the connection point. The blue wire on the harness will connect to the wire carrying the electric brake output signal. The black wire is for 12-volt constant power. The last wire will connect to the reverse light wire (located behind a taillight assembly).

If you do not find the connection point under your truck, you will need to hard wire a 7- and 4-Way installation kit, # ETBC7, and hard wire the brake controller to it instead of using the # 3035-P wiring adapter. A hardwire wiring harness is included with the braked controller. I have included 2 FAQ articles below. The first shows images of what the connection point will look like under the truck.
