There could be a way to route a trailer wiring harness through the bottom of the cargo area and out on your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek. You will need to remove all the flooring that you can in the cargo area of the vehicle to get down to the metal. Then look for a grommet that you could route the wiring through.
If there is no grommet you would have to drill.
The weather stripping on the vehicle hatch will protect the harness wires provided the hatch is not closed on the harness. The wiring is free to move in and out with little resistance so it does work if you determine that an alternate method of routing the wiring will not work.
