Way to Stabilizer Long Kayak on Roof of 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon
Published 12/05/2015 >
Question:
How can I best extend the front to back distance of the 2016 Outback factory roof rack crossbars to more securely hold my 17foot kayak. I own a load warrior basket .. Perhaps an l.w. extension and cross bars to get more f. To b spread? Perhaps a Yakima hitch bar Y to extend the distance of the roof rack? Your expert thoughts, please? My appreciation in advance for any assistance you can give me! I hesitate to go the route of a track installation and or removal of the factory rack assembly. I am sure you are well aware the fixed/short crossbar position on the modern 2016 cars flush rail racks makes it maddening if one wants a car to haul a long sea kayak.

What you are going to want to give you more stability for your kayak rack is the Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Bar # RTL002 installed in a 2 inch hitch on your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon like part # 75673.
This will give you a third crossbar at the rear of your vehicle that is adjustable in height that will allow you to more securely carry your 17 foot kayak.
This way you wouldn't have to permanently modify your vehicle roof to install a track system.
I attached a review video for you to check out as well.
