2003 Chevrolet Tahoe Front Hitch Installation Instructions for Through Bumper Mounting and Drilling
Updated 07/05/2010 | Published 07/02/2010 >
Question:
I like the idea of through bumper for our 2003 Chev Tahoe. Can you tell me what the position of the 3 square hole that goes through the bumper is? The instructions I downloaded say 3/12. Is it supposed to be 3-1/2? Also, is any drilling required? The instructions dont say that any is but the Drawtite receiver does require drilling. I just want to confirm that the Curt does not require drilling, just a bunch of fishing. Thanks

The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch, item # 31302, is designed for a no drill application on the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe 1500 Series.
According to the instructions, if you install the hitch in the through bumper configuration you will need to cut a 3 inch square hole in the plastic fascia to allow the receiver to be correctly installed. 3 inches takes into account the hitch opening, 2 inches, the steel dimensions, 2-1/2 inches square and the reinforcement flange that is mounted around the opening of the hitch. The location of the hole will be positioned in the center of the fascia 3-1/2 inches below the top edge of the plastic fascia.
I recommend test fitting the hitch prior to cutting the fascia so that you are sure that you are cutting in the correct location. This will also give you an idea of how hard it will be to install and remove the hitch pin when changing out accessories on the front of the vehicle.
