How to Determine Needed Pilot Diameter of Steel Dual Trailer Wheel
Published 12/01/2015 >
Question:
GOOD MORINING. I WAS WONDERING WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PILOT HOLE 4.77 AND 4.88 .
asked by: PETER R
Helpful Expert Reply:
The pilot diameter is measured as the diameter of the large hole in the center of the wheel. The Dexstar # AM20790 steel dual trailer wheel you referenced has a 4.88 pilot diameter.
So which pilot diameter would you need? To figure that out, I would recommend you measure the pilot diameter of your existing wheels, and choose replacement wheels that have the same pilot diameter.
