Question:
I have been reading people have had a hard time finding the trigger wire for a brake controller red wire on a 2011-2015 VW Jetta/Golf. So i was wondering if it was ok to connect it to the brake light?

Helpful Expert Reply:
There are some vehicles that are hard to locate the stop light switch wire needed for a brake controller, and Volkswagen is one of those.
Per my contact at our manufacturer, you may want to find the wire that leads to the third brake light. You will need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and find the wire that only shows current when the brake pedal is pressed.
They were not able to tell me which side of the vehicle the wire can be found, but typically the wire can be found under the door threshold on either the driver or passenger side.
