Question:
I am trying to remove the adapter on my king pin . I have the spanner wrench and a piece of pipe three feet long and there are two of us . we could still not break it loose , we ripped the pipe instead . any suggestions on how to get it loose.

Expert Reply:
The base of the adapter gets tightened to 1,200 ft lbs of torque. The install recommendation is a 4 foot cheater pipe. You are going to want to use at least a 4 foot long cheater pipe that is stronger than the one you currently broke to get it loose.
The longer the bar you use the more leverage you will end up having.
